Adult Movie Theatres in Camden

New Jersey · last checked 20 October 2026

Nothing is open inside Camden itself. What the county has instead is four places within twenty-five miles of each other that all work the same way: a shop at the front, ten or thirteen dollars to go through a door, and behind it booths and an open room. Three trade until midnight. One of them has a pool table in the back and one runs a party every Friday night.

The busiest venue in this directory and the only one with a calendar. Ten dollars gets you past the clerk into a dark back section with booths, screens and gloryholes, and the films running cover straight, gay and trans at the same time, which is rarer than it sounds.

The events are the point. There is a party every Friday with a crew who run it, named in reviews. There is a monthly trans and crossdresser mixer with a published door price, twenty dollars for men which includes food and soft drinks and ten for everybody else. A trans woman who went to the first one in June 2026 wrote that the Friday crew treat her properly and that everyone makes a serious effort. Somebody who went to the March 2026 party for the first time said the staff were friendly and she met other people there for the same reason she was.

Nothing else on this site is programmed. Everywhere else is a room that happens to be open. This is a venue with a schedule, a door price, a host and a crowd that knows each other.

Two honest notes. The crowd skews old, roughly fifty to seventy-five by several accounts. And a semi-regular of nearly thirty years updated his review on 17 October 2026 to say it is still good for what it is, which is the longest continuous patronage anybody has reported anywhere in this directory.

You walk through a small convenience counter, then a dated and thinly stocked shop, and then there are two doors to what regulars call the cinema. The back is dark. Four or five films run in the comfortable viewing rooms and the private booths cost extra.

The couples record here goes back to 2012 and is consistent: staff accommodating, other couples present, men polite. A woman who went with her boyfriend in September 2025 found it clean and said the clerk showed them round.

And one account you should read before going. A wife wrote on 11 September 2026 about a Friday after eight with at least a dozen men in the theatre. Her husband set the ground rules and acted as bodyguard. One man ignored her saying no twice, and her husband picked him up by the throat and removed him. She posted it as a good night out. Take from it both things: that the venue is busy and that the rules get enforced by whoever came with you.

A visitor in July 2023 called the place filthy and said to bring covers and disinfectant. Several others since have called it clean. Both are on the record.

The smallest of the four and the most improved. A customer returning in April 2024 after years away found it tidied up and was surprised more people do not use it. Thirteen dollars to go through, which is the highest door fee in the county.

Somebody in September 2026 reported the back rooms humid but otherwise fine, and the shop at the front small, clean and overpriced. Several couples have gone and had a good time.

The most precisely documented back room in this directory, and the only one with a pool table in it. Ten dollars gets you behind the curtain to a hallway of eight small booths and then a larger area with the table, some chairs and stools. Running a film in a booth costs again, and the time you get is fair.

The house rules were written down by a customer in 2018 and are worth knowing: the attendant leaves you alone as long as you are using a booth. He watched a couple start in the hallway and the attendant simply told them to use a booth. Leave your door open too wide and you are told to close it. People share booths and nobody objects.

That is the Colorado Springs sightline rule in practice, administered by a man on a stool rather than by a licensing officer. Get in the booth. Shut the door.

Somebody in January 2026 found it dull and the stock badly priced. The back is maintained and nobody reports it as grim.

One format, four businesses

Across forty-odd cities this directory has found survivors one at a time, each improvising. South Jersey is the only place with a standard.

The Mistress194 US 130, Bordentown$10Eight booths, an open room, a pool table. No theatre.
Four separate businesses, one layout. Three of them trade 9am to midnight.

The economics are visible in that table. The door fee is the product. Not the films, not the toys at the front, not the booths, which cost again once you are inside. What you are buying for ten dollars is several hours in a dark room with other people, and the shop out front is there to make the building a shop.

Compare the single survivors elsewhere. San Jose charges to enter the arcade and then stands over you to keep feeding the machine. El Paso has a coin-operated door. Here four separate owners within half an hour of each other have all landed on the same answer, which suggests it is the right one.

Published hours are unreliable at these addresses. Egg Harbor City’s sister venue lists an afternoon close and customers are plainly there at half past eight at night. Phone first.

The city that invented the drive-in has no cinema at all

Camden’s claim is the first drive-in cinema, in 1933, on Admiral Wilson Boulevard. Not one indoor cinema survives in the city today.

The Stanley opened at Broadway and Market in 1926, was up for sale by late October 1964, closed in 1965 and came down the same year. The Towers opened on 23 November 1914 and showed its last film, Montana Belle, on 3 March 1953; it was demolished in 1955. The Arlo opened in July 1949, closed in the early 1970s, spent a while as a catering hall and was abandoned. The Midway on Broadway was leased to a promoter in 1978 for Spanish language films and was then demolished for the Walter Rand Transportation Center. Accounts disagree over whether the Midway or the Arlo was the last one standing.

And read the Camden drive-in claim against El Paso, where the Fiesta on Montana Avenue has been showing adult films outdoors since October 1981 and is very likely the last adult drive-in in the country. The form was invented here and its final version is two thousand miles away.

What we could not find

No adult cinema in Camden is documented in anything we read. Not a name, not an address, not a date. For a city of this size next to Philadelphia that is surprising, and we are reporting the gap rather than filling it.

The closest thing in the record is the North Camden, formerly the Standard, which became a live burlesque house in the late 1950s. That is a decade too early and a different trade.

The Camden County Historical Society and the Courier-Post archive would settle it. We have not been through either.
