Adult Movie Theatres in Fresno
California · last checked 18 October 2026
One place in Fresno still has booths, out on East Ventura Avenue, and somebody was describing them in April 2026. The more interesting thing is an address: 1267 North Blackstone opened as an adult cinema in 1972 and is still an adult shop today, fifty-four years later, which no other building in this directory can say.

Two useful accounts, both recent. In April 2025 a visitor was surprised by how clean it was inside and noted the machines only take notes rather than coins, and that the parking is better than at the shop on Blackstone. In April 2026 another described the booths running, and complained about an attendant who shouts when they time out and about doors that need locks.
Nobody publishes hours for this place, so the phone number is the only way to know before you drive.

Suzie’s Adult Superstore at 1267 North Blackstone, (559) 497-9613, trades from 10am to midnight. It is a shop, not an arcade, and it gets good reviews. It is also the building in the section below.
Fifty-four years at one address
The Artisian Theatre opened at 1267 North Blackstone Avenue on 1 September 1972. One screen, and the thing worth noting in the record is that it had a couples section, which tells you it was chasing a mixed audience rather than only men.
It closed in 1974 after about two years. But the use never left. The archive entry puts it plainly: adult cinema has remained on site. By 2021 it was a Suzie’s, selling films over a counter instead of showing them, and that is what it still is.
Somebody photographing the shop front for that archive in 2021 wrote that he could not picture the place as a theatre. That is the whole directory in one sentence. The buildings survive and stop looking like what they were.
The four houses
- The Artisianaddress still trading1267 North Blackstone Avenue
Opened 1 September 1972 with a couples section. Closed 1974.
Still in the trade. Suzie's Adult Superstore stands here now.
- Pussycat, previously the Venusgone56 North Van Ness Avenue
Opened 23 September 1970 as a 16mm adult cinema, moved up to 35mm, closed as the Venus in 1982, reopened as a Pussycat on 11 November 1983.
Closed 1987. The building was still standing and up for lease in 2003.
- The Bijou, previously the Kiddie Kinemagone4104 East Shields Avenue
Opened in 1969 as a children's cinema. Briefly the Bijou from September 1973 showing old films.
By the mid 1970s it was one of Fresno's X-rated houses. Gone.
- The Motor-In drive-ingoneMalaga, south of the city
Opened 1946. Showing X-rated films outdoors by June 1975.
Closed 1979.
The Bijou is the odd one. It opened in 1969 as the Kiddie Kinema, a children’s cinema, spent a few months in 1973 showing old films, and by the middle of that decade was one of the city’s X-rated houses. Few buildings in this directory changed audience that completely in six years.
