Adult Movie Theatres in Tulsa

Oklahoma · last checked 18 October 2026

Tulsa had a real adult theatre with more than one screen until very recently, on East Third Street, and it is now listed as closed. There are no booths anywhere else in the city. The shops that remain are boutiques: Patricia’s, Sassy’s, Hustler Hollywood, the Love Store. Nothing with a screen behind it.

What is still open

Nothing we can count. The Midtown at 319 East Third Street, (918) 584-3112, is marked closed, and that comes from customers reporting it rather than from an announcement. Some directories still show an adult superstore trading at the same address from 10am to midnight. The two claims have not been reconciled by anybody, and we have not phoned to settle it.

If you are thinking of going, that number is worth a call first. Everything else in Tulsa is retail.

Watching it close, in its own reviews

The Midtown opened on 1 May 1981 showing adult films, in the ground floor of the old Elgin Hotel. One listing called it the only multi-seat adult cinema in Oklahoma. Its customers left a record of the last four years without meaning to.

  1. October 2022A customer reports the theatres are old and unclean and several seats in each one are broken.
  2. January 2023A regular says it needs updating but serves its purpose, and that it is better when more people come.
  3. June 2023Another complains the admission is too high for what it is.
  4. December 2023The twenty-four hour opening is gone. It now closes at midnight.
  5. July 2025A regular writes that the hours are the problem and midnight is too early for a place like this.
  6. By October 2026Listed as closed.
Nobody closed this place. It ran out of hours, then customers, then reasons.

The detail that does the damage is the hours. A place like this earns its money late, and once it shut at midnight the people who used it late had nowhere to be. One reviewer put the rest of it bluntly: the crowd thinned, and they may as well sell to the developers.

A bomb and a fire

Tulsa ran its adult cinemas on South Main, and two of them ended badly.

The Paris Arts Theatre at 18 South Main had been the Roxy, where police stopped a strip show within days of it opening. It turned to adult films in 1965 and closed on 17 August 1967, when a bomb went off at the front of the building and wrecked the inside.

The Majestic at 406 South Main was a silent house from 1918. It went over to adult films on 18 August 1965 and split its balcony into a second screen, the Penthouse, in 1970. It closed on 9 September 1973, when fire destroyed it.

Two others are recorded. Studio One opened at 520 South Main on 15 December 1970, said to have been built to replace the Majestic, and ran into the 1980s. Sophisticate’s X Twin at 13 North Lewis worked out of a former appliance showroom from about 1972, with a second screen booking films for a gay audience. After the cinemas closed it became an arcade and bookshop, and that was shut down by law enforcement three years later.

The one that went the other way

The Circle at 10 South Lewis reopened on 7 July 1978 showing adult films and carried on doing it until 1991. In 2003 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and taken over by a foundation set up to restore it.

It is the only building in this entire directory that went from adult house to protected landmark and is now a working independent cinema. Everywhere else, the usual ending is a car park.
