Three places in Raleigh have rooms and all three trade past midnight, two of them until four in the morning. One has three separate theatres and puts the booths inside the door price. And one of them is filthy, broken and overpriced by the account of its own regulars, who keep going anyway, for a reason worth the whole page.

The best-laid-out venue in the state by some distance, and somebody wrote the whole thing down in February 2026: three theatres, one of them for gay men and the other two mixed, two private rooms at ten dollars an hour, and a run of booths, most with gloryholes.

The booths are included in the door. No tokens, no feeding cash into a slot. He called it very convenient and said he wished other places would follow. He is right that it is unusual: in San Jose you pay to get into the arcade and then a member of staff stands behind you while you keep feeding the machine.

Set your expectations on the crowd rather than the fittings. The same man found it very clean and said there was no action going on, just lookers. Somebody in June 2025 settled into one theatre, got talking to a woman, and they found a private spot. Somebody else in June 2026 went on a Thursday and found it packed. Asked on the listing whether the place is for straight men, a regular answered that all kinds of men go, so pick your poison.

It is not spotless. A visitor in June 2026 noted a smell. One in July 2024 described staff as rude and the lavatory left in a state nobody dealt with, and recommended Phoenix down the road instead.

We are going to be straight with you about this one, because its own customers are.

It smells of urine, by three separate accounts across four years, most recently May 2026. In June 2025 every theatre had the sound switched off and one room was playing a blurry picture, and the man at the counter would not help when asked twice. In April 2022 a customer called the arcade a dark warehouse with broken booths and televisions that did not work. In July 2022 somebody warned about drug use and told people to watch their backs. The toys are overpriced.

And in October 2026, three weeks before this page was written, somebody wrote that every time he goes he gets action, and that it could be a little cleaner.

Practical note from February 2025: not many women turn up except at night, so men should go in open-minded.

Phoenix Adult Superstore

The cleanest-run of the three by reputation, and the one a dissatisfied Pegasus customer sent people to. The business advertises its arcade as state of the art with more than two hundred films on it.

One rule to know. In December 2022 a couple paid fifteen dollars to go in the back, found it dead and stuffy after fifteen minutes, stepped out for air and were told they could not come back without paying again. He also noticed thirty cars in the car park and four people in the shop, which he could not explain and neither can we.

The staff are the thing people write about here. In May 2023 a woman who had been stood up on a date was let stay inside until her lift arrived, and said the woman running the place made her feel safe. That is not a sentence this directory gets to print often.

Not counted. Triangle Adult Super Center in Raleigh has no reviews at all. Cherry Pie is a shop. Over in Durham, Xsightment Video mentions previewing videos in the back and Maxx Adult Emporium is well liked, and neither has a room anybody has described properly.

Why a man of sixty keeps going back

On 5 October 2025 a customer of the Capital Boulevard store wrote six sentences that explain this entire directory better than anything else on it. He said the place is dirty, that it smells, that it is overpriced, and that nothing works. Then he said he keeps going back.

The reason he gave is that he is not judged there for being chubby and over sixty. He added that lunchtime is his favourite time to go.

He is not the only one. In May 2021 another man described himself as a chubby older guy, said he felt at home, got no attitude from anybody, and called it a no judgement zone. Two different people, four years apart, in a building where the films have no sound.

So the product is not the film. It cannot be. The sound is off, the picture is blurry, the same reel repeats, and the televisions in the booths are broken. People are paying to be in a room where nobody looks at them twice.

Everywhere else on this site we have worked that out sideways, from door prices and room layouts and who gets in free. Raleigh is where somebody simply said it.

What eleven years did to the door

Pegasus is the only venue in this directory whose entry fee can be followed over a decade, because three customers happened to write it down.

May 2015$10 into the arcade, unlimited viewing. You could skip scenes, rewind, change channel instantly.
September 2025$20 for a single entry. A long-standing customer said out loud that it had got expensive and the man on the counter gave him a dirty look.
February 2026$15 into the theatres, with the video booths included in that, no tokens and no further cash. Private rooms $10 an hour on top.

Three customers, eleven years, one door. The $20 and the $15 are five months apart and we cannot reconcile them.

Two things in there. The first is the rise, which the September 2025 customer felt strongly enough to say to the attendant’s face, and which got him a dirty look rather than an answer.

The second is what the fee now covers. In 2015 the ten dollars bought the arcade. In 2026 the fifteen buys the theatres and the booths together, with nothing fed into a machine. Compare Camden, where you pay at the door and the booths charge you again inside, or Biloxi, which went the other way and stopped letting people leave and come back at all.

Phoenix has the same no-return rule as Biloxi. Fifteen dollars, and if you step outside for air you pay it again.

One person per booth, and what is actually on offer

North Carolina does not leave this to the cities. As the Charlotte page sets out, state law prohibits any viewing booth in an adult mini motion picture theatre from being occupied by more than one person at a time.

Now read what Raleigh sells. Pegasus has two private rooms at ten dollars an hour. A couple went to Pegasus specifically to try the gloryholes, with the wife in the booth and the husband watching. A man met a woman in one of the theatres and they found a private spot to continue.

We are not going to tell you those things break the statute, because we do not know how the law treats a private room let by the hour as against a viewing booth, and that distinction is exactly where the answer would live. What we can say is that the rule is about booths, the venues here sell rooms, and the gap between those two words is doing a lot of work.

Almost no history to tell you

Raleigh is close to a blank. We found no documented adult cinema in the city, no obscenity prosecution, no licensing fight.

The one entry in the cinema record is the Center Drive-In, which opened in 1956, ended its days as an adult theatre and closed on 4 July 1983 before being demolished. Its listed address is on Mechanical Drive in the 27529 postcode, which is Garner rather than Raleigh proper, so even that one sits just outside the city.

The News & Observer archive and the Wake County local history collection would settle whether this city ever had an adult cinema at all. We have not been through either, and we would rather leave the gap visible than fill it.
